Drainage basins as systems

Rain enters stores and flows through a catchment by infiltration, overland flow, throughflow and channels. The division among pathways changes with soils, vegetation, slopes and prior wetness.
An intervention upstream can affect water arriving downstream. Evaluate timing and total flow at the scale appropriate to the decision.
