Permafrost thaw and Denali’s park road
Thawing ice-rich ground destabilised a section of Denali’s road. NPS’s 2025 account explains the decision to bridge the active landslide rather than continually repair the slipping road.
The bridge was completed in September 2026, but public bus access to the west end was expected for the 2027 visitor season. Completion and service reopening are separate claims.
