Nepal earthquake, 2015

Central Nepal · Event or project period: 2015

The Gorkha earthquake occurred on the India–Eurasia collision boundary. Ground shaking affected settlements and destabilised steep slopes.

Separate the mainshock from later aftershocks. Landslides can obstruct routes and rivers, so the consequences extend beyond the collapsed buildings nearest the fault.
