Denali’s bridge is complete, with bus access expected in 2027

Source publication: 2026-09-03

NPS announced completion of the Pretty Rocks Bridge over an active landslide. The road had closed in August 2021; thawing permafrost was a contributor to instability.

The release says public bus service to the west end is expected for the 2027 season. Road repairs and facility work remained after the structure was completed.

Thawing ground ice contributes to slope movement, damaging the road. Spanning the active landslide aims to restore a connection. The announcement establishes bridge completion, while full bus service was still a future expectation.
