Match your answer to your course

Check the course, component and exam year before using a marking rule.

Read the task before choosing a structure

A request for two reasons needs two distinct reasons. A request to explain one reason needs development of that reason. A high mark total does not automatically mean that you should give an opinion.

Use the official mark scheme for that question. Paragraph counts and sentence starters can help you plan, but they are not universal marking rules.

Calculation answers

Write a clear method so you can check your work and may earn method credit if the final answer is wrong. Follow the requested unit and rounding.

For OCR GCSE A and B from June 2026, a correct final maths answer earns full marks even without working. The Pearson 2025 schemes checked for this workshop also credit correct final answers without working. Check the scheme for your particular paper.

OCR B: separate the dates

For the development case, connect three relevant SDGs to actual evidence about the taught LIDC. Explain progress and remaining difficulties; naming a goal alone is not an explanation.

WJEC and Eduqas

Choose the exact course your school teaches. The new Made-for-Wales WJEC qualification has its own assessment structure. A legacy paper can support knowledge practice, but its task structure must not be assumed to match the new course.
