Haiti earthquake, 2010
The 12 January earthquake affected a densely occupied urban area. USGS/EERI reconnaissance examined buildings, ground conditions and infrastructure across several damaged communities.
Use this case to compare vulnerability with Nepal or Japan. A single national death estimate does not reveal differences between neighbourhoods; published estimates also differ.
